About the Artist

Artist's Statement About the Process
I am passionate about line, texture and color, which all come together through my tinted woodburning process. This process evolved over time as I experimented with tools and materials.
The tinted woodburning process begins by burning an image into wood using a pyrography tool. Each image is created through using an array of marks to build up the patterns and textures. Once the image is completed, I then apply layers of transparent stains, with a process of washing on, wiping off, and sanding. This creates the rich color that not only highlights the image, but also brings to life the wood grain, which comes can integral part of each piece. The last step in my tinted woodburning process is to strategically incorporate collage, infusing the piece with additional color and whimsy.
The uniqueness of the work, and the beauty of the images has resulted in continuous sales with every showing of the work, and an expanding patronage.
